Once there was a fox. He lived in a
jungle. A crane (বক) was his best friend. They visited each other’s home now and
then (মাঝে মাঝে). One day, the fox invited the crane to dinner (রাতের খাবার). On a certain (নির্দিষ্ট) day and time,
the crane reached fox house for dinner. The fox prepared (প্রস্তুত করল) soup for the crane. He
served (পরিবেশন করল) the soup on a plate (বড় থালা). For the fox, drinking soup on a plate was not a
problem, but the crane was failed to drink the soup with its beak (ঠোঁট).
He remained (থাকল) hungry (ক্ষুধার্ত). The crane felt very
insulted (অপমানিত). He understood (বুঝল) that the fox had arranged (আয়োজন করল) this dinner only to make fun (মঝা/তামাশা) of him. The fox said to the crane, “Did
you like the food or not?”
The crane said, "Thank you."
Now the crane wanted to take revenge (প্রতিশোধ). He invited the fox to a dinner with him.
The fox agreed (রাজি হল). The fox reached the crane’s house the next day. “I will eat
very hard!” Thought the fox.
The crane also prepared soup for dinner.
He served the soup in a long neck jar. (লম্বা ঘাড়বিশিষ্ট জগ)The crane put his long beak in the jar
and he drank the soup a lot.
But the fox totally failed to drink the
soup. The fox had to starve (না খেয়ে থাকা) like the crane. Thus, (এভাবে) the crane took revenge of his
insulation (অপমান). Finally, the fox felt sorry for his behavior. (আচরন)
Moral: As you sow, so shall you reap?

একবার একটা শিয়াল ছিল। তিনি একটি জঙ্গলে থাকতেন। একটি সারস/বক ছিল তার সবচেয়ে ভালো বন্ধু। তারা একে অপরের বাড়িতে বারবার যেতেন। একদিন, শিয়াল সারসকে রাতের খাবারের আমন্ত্রণ জানায়। একটি নির্দিষ্ট দিনে এবং সময়ে, বকটি রাতের খাবারের জন্য শিয়ালের বাড়িতে পৌঁছেছিল। শিয়াল বকের জন্য স্যুপ প্রস্তুত করল। তিনি একটি প্লেটে স্যুপ পরিবেশন করলেন। শিয়ালের জন্য, প্লেটে স্যুপ পান করা কোনও সমস্যা ছিল না, তবে বকটি তার ঠোঁট দিয়ে স্যুপ পান করতে ব্যর্থ হয়েছিল।

সারস বলল, "ধন্যবাদ।" এবার বক প্রতিশোধ নিতে চাইল। তিনি শিয়ালকে তার সাথে একটি নৈশভোজে (রাতের খাবার) আমন্ত্রণ জানান। শেয়াল রাজি হল। শেয়াল পরের দিন বকের বাড়িতে পৌঁছে গেল। "আমি খুব মজা করে খাবো!" শেয়াল মনে মনে ভাবল।
বক রাতের খাবারের জন্য স্যুপও প্রস্তুত করেছিল। তিনি লম্বা গলার বয়ামে (এক প্রকার মগ, যার গলা অনেক লম্বা) স্যুপ পরিবেশন করলেন। বক তার লম্বা ঠোঁটটি বয়ামে রাখল এবং সে প্রচুর পরিমাণে স্যুপটি পান করল।
কিন্তু শিয়াল সম্পূর্ণরূপে স্যুপ পান করতে ব্যর্থ হয়। শেয়ালকে বকের মতো অনাহারে থাকতে হয়েছিল। এইভাবে, বক তার প্রতিশোধ নিল। অবশেষে, শেয়াল তার আচরণের জন্য দুঃখ প্রকাশ করল।
