Effect of Cutting Trees

May 15: Plants and trees are supposed to be blessings of
God. They give us oxygen without which we cannot survive for a single moment. They
give us shade and shelter, food and fruits, medicine. They keep ecological
balance. In fact, plants and trees are of great use to us.
But it is a matter of
great concern that plants and trees are being cut down indiscriminately.
Forests are being burnt down. Deforestation is taking place frequently.
Because of
deforestation, carbon-dioxide is increasing. Global warming is severe that life
has become suffocating. Natural disasters like earthquake, tsunami are taking
place. Consequently heavy loss is being caused to human life and property.
IT is seen that ice
caps in the Arctic region have started to melt because of global warming. The
surroundings of the Artic region have already been flooded.
Bangladesh is a low
lying country. Its southern parts may go under water if deforestation is
allowed to go on. So more plants and trees should be planted. Necessarily tree
plantation programme should be introduced. If anyone cuts a tree, he/she should
plant two trees. Besides, those who cut down trees illegally should be severely
punished. No one should be allowed to violate forest preservation act. Let’s
make the world greener by planting trees.
