Independence Day observed across the country

Independence Day was observed yesterday very peacefully throughout the country.
On the occasion of Independence Day the whole country wore festive colours, no
unpleasant incident took place anywhere.
The day began with 31 gunshots. Early in the
morning, the President and the Prime Minister on behalf of the nation offered
floral wreath at the National Memorial as a token of honour and love to the
martyred heroic sons of the Liberation War.
After that people of all avenues of life including
different political parties offered their homage to the martyrs.
The day was a government holiday. The national flag
was hoisted on all government and private buildings.
On this day in the morning, various units of the
armed forces exhibited parades in the National Parade Ground before the
spectators. Special prayers were also offered for the martyrs in all mosques,
temples and churches across the country.
The mentionable programmes of the day were organized
by various social and cultural organizations. People attended the programmes
enthusiastically.
Radio and TV channels aired special programmes.
National dailies brought out special supplements highlighting the importance of
the day.
