My Town

The name of my town is Dhaka. I live here with my family. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. Dhaka is located on the banks of the River Buriganga. The area of Dhaka city is about 153.84 square kilometres. The town has a large population. About 7 million people live here. It has a colorful history and known as the ‘City of Mosques.’ Modern Dhaka is the center of political , cultural and economic  life in Bangladesh. Under Mughal  rule in the 17th century, the city was also known as Jahangir Nagar. There are many interesting places in Dhaka city. The most interesting places are -Mosques; Hindu Temples ; Churches ; National Memorial ; Lalbagh Fort ; Mukti Juddha Museum ; Ahsan Manzil Museum;  Curzon Hall Old High Court Building;  Dhaka Zoo;  National Museum;  Botanical Garden;  Central Shahid Minar;  Banga Bhaban;  Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban etc. There are also many educational institutions in my town. The communication system of my town is very easy. Public and private buses, taxis, CNG’s, scooters are available in the road. However, Dhaka is known as the rickshaw capital of the world. Dhaka is connected by highways and railway links  to almost all the cities and towns. Dhaka experiences a hot, wet and humid tropical climate. The city is within the monsoon climate zone. Most residents of Dhaka speak Bengali, the national language. English is also spoken by a large segment of the population, especially for business purposes. Most of the people in Dhaka city are Muslims. The rest are Hindu and Christian. People from different communities  live here in peace. I live my town very happily and peacefully. Really I am very proud to live in Dhaka city.
