The cow boy and the tiger or, Nobody believes a liar

Once there lived a cow boy in a village. He used to grace cattle near a forest. It was not very far away from his village. Besides his usual duty he sang and played the flute. But the boy had a bad habit. He used to tell lies. At times he shouted ‘tiger’. At first (মাঝেমাঝে) the people believed him. Hearing his shouting of the boy they rushed to (দেঁৗড়ে যাওয়া) help him. Coming there they saw nothing. But they found the boy laughing and got pleased (খুশি হওয়া) with this.

One day at afternoon, he was grazing in the field. Suddenly he saw a tiger. He became afraid and shouted (চিৎকার করা) saying “tiger” again and again. But nobody came to save him. The villagers thought that he was playing the previous trick (চালাকি). He tried to climb up the tree, but failed. The tiger attacked (আক্রমন করল) him very swiftly (দ্রুতগতিতে) and killed (হত্যা) him. When people found him at a dead (মৃত) body, they had nothing to do. I think that sometimes we ourselves create the tragedy (দুঃখজনক ঘটনা) in our life. Same thing happened in cowboy’s (রাখাল) life. If he didn’t tell a lie shouting “tiger” people would save cowboy’s life.  So we should not tell a lie for making fun (মজা). Liars (মিথ্যাবাদী) are not believed even when they speak the truth.
