Report on increasing number of ‘Road Accident’ in your district

Suppose, you are a Staff Reporter of a national daily “The Daily Swadesh Pratidin”. You are advised to make a report on the increasing number of ‘Road  Accident’ in your district.

Road Accidents are on the Rise in Narayanganj District

Staff Reporter, Narayanganj, 20 April: Road accidents are getting much more frequent throughout the country, particularly in the city areas. But this frequency has got a more serious dimension in Narayanganj, an adjacent district to the capital city, Dhaka.

In the recent few weeks a significant number of tragic road accidents have taken place throughout the suburbs of the district. The port city has very recently turned into a city of severe casualties from frequent road  accidents. Only in the last two weeks at least 8 people died and 20 – 30 people got injured in a series of street accidents here and there in the district.

Like most of the road accidents in Bangladesh, the accidents taken place in Narayanganj have almost the same reasons behind. Ultrafast but unplanned urbanization, narrow and insufficient roads and streets, non-licensed and faulty vehicles plying on the roads, violation of traffic roads and of course, desperate driving are the major causes of these accidents.

Necessary steps to stop, at last, to minimize the frequency of street accidents must be taken by the authority concern immediately. Otherwise, this march of tragic death cannot be reined at all.
