Long Hartal Paralyzed the Whole Nation
A day long hartal was
observed yesterday across the country leading to death, destruction, picketing
and arson. The hartal was called by the opposition party protesting the law
passed in the last session of the parliament supposing it to be against public interest.
The hartal left in its wake a trial of deaths, destruction and untold public
sufferings. Arson attack and cocktail blast were also practiced in the hartal.
Clashes between the police and the picketers were held in different places of
the country. Roads were blocked by felling trees. Buses in the long routs
didn’t ply. Shutters of the shops were kept down. Slippers of the rail line
were remove in some places. Picketers set some vehicles on fire leading to the
death to a driver of a bus.
People in general, it
won’t be long before the opposition leaders to realize the folly as well as the
political cost of their hartal based political programmes. The party leaders
should now be in a better position to realize the danger that lies in the
uncontrolled use of such a questionable political method. It is high time the
opposition party thought of an alternative to hartal.
