A Rainy Day - Paragraph - JSC-SSC-HSC - Gazi Online School

A Rainy Day

A rainy day is a day when it rains a lot (প্রচুর).  A rainy day is dull (নীরস) and gloomy (অন্ধকারাচ্ছন্ন/মনমরা). It is a common scene (দৃশ্য) in Bangladesh during the rainy season. The sky is overcast (আচ্ছন্ন/ঢাকা) with thick (পুরু/মোটা/ঘন) clouds (মেঘ). Sometimes it drizzles (গুঁড়ি গুঁড়ি বৃষ্টি হওয়া) and sometimes it rains heavily (ভারী). After the heavy rain, tanks, ponds, rivers etc. become full to brim (কানায় কানায় ভরে যাওয়া) and roads go under water.

During the rainy season, none can go out without an umbrella. Water stands the roads and roads become very muddy (কর্দমাক্ত) and slippery (পিচ্ছিল). Sometimes people slip and fall (পড়ে যাওয়া) on the muddy road. The office going people and other businesses go out with umbrellas over their head.  Passers-by (পথিক) also move in the same way.  When it rains in heavily, people get drenched (ভিজে যাওয়া) and stop midway (মাঝপথে). On a rainy day the poor suffer much. They cannot go out to earn money for their livelihood (জীবীকা). They pass the day through sufferings and they spend their time idly (অলসভাবে). Most of the students do not go to the school. So, classes are not held. They spent their time playing indoor games. The rich people enjoy the rainy day much sitting in the corner of the house. The cattle (গবাদি পশু) keep standing in their sheds (চালা দিয়ে তৈরি গোয়াল ঘর). A rainy day is a mixed day of joy and sorrow. Despite (সত্ত্বেও)) all its disadvantages (অসুবিধা), we enjoy ourselves on this day. It brings some variety (বৈচিত্র) to our monotonous (একঘেয়েমী) life. It comes to different types of people in different ways.
